Here is a photo of field ration equipment like some items that my grandfather used while in the Air Corp and even years later he would use the items when he go out wolf hunting to deer hunting.

One of the answers to the logistics of feeding the military in World War I was sometimes the war kept the men on the move in the military camps in the states to where there wasn't enough time to cook, so the Red Cross and Salvation Army supplied the food and drink(Red Cross charged a fee, and Salvation Army was free of which was usually the longer line) or the men would open their rations and cook it in the equipment provided or eat it cold. |
